New Farm Park Picnic Part 4

It had threatened to storm all afternoon, but fortunately it passed us and when the sun came out we all rejoiced.

Mel and Rowan enjoyed their ice cream yoga.

Simone did not want her photo taken but efforts to avoid the inevitable brought this serendipitous result, the family passing and sunlight creating what I thought was quite nice.

Tim and Dave caught sight of this while packing the car and called me up to snap the last pic of the day.

Mobile Phone - November 20-25

November 20. I was delighted to find out how to use the Bluetooth adaptor thingy with my new phone.

Driving in my car, I never want to go home, because it was beautiful when the night was cool and the streets were nearly empty. After some G&T and BLT at PC's place, we went to Talulah and Robert's place and then I went home. Life is exciting.

I call this "Unpaid Fines". It is outside the Ashgrove Library.

Taken On My New Mobile Phone - November 18 and 19, 2005

These events occurred the few days before the New Farm Park Picnic.

Paul and I had a pee party in his toilet. It was cosy. Every time someone needed to go to the toilet, the other had to get out. These things need to be kept private, you know. What actually happened was that JB and PC had G&T in the lounge room, listening to psychedelic music and talking nonsense and women.

Paul waiting patiently the next morning for the wrong train. This meant that we did not meet Huw at Roma St as planned, but we caught up with him later. I then did not subscribe to ZZZ as intended as no-one bothered to turn up for the front desk. The Great Wall was the next stop for Paul to purchase tea, while I know where to go next time I want rice wine or one of those huge cleavers for Chinese cooking; before we decided not to drink coffee and head back to Paul's place for tea and a listen to my new Reigning Sound CD.

This is what happened when we got back to Paul's place. Sometimes Paul can't face the world and needs to don a mask. He doesn't get much tea drunk though.

This is what also happened at Paul's place, albeit over the last couple of years. Unless Paul becomes a teetotaller, his kitchen is going to need some more cupboards.

The Saturday evening saw Simone, Dave, Tim and I going off to a 19th birthday party for Talu-LaLa, who looked splendid in blue wig and bondage police uniform.

New Farm Park Picnic Part 3

This is what happens when you put your camera down, turn your back on it and someone else picks it up.

Would you want this man directing your film? Tim does his best Sleazy Picnic Man impersonation.

The barbecue was over and Tim and Dave went off for a walk, whereupon they met a DJ who used an I-cod or I-codpiece or something like that.

Simone laughing is a wonderful sight. That's Sarah's lovely knees at the bottom of the frame.

Matt was perhaps the most natural of all in front of the camera when he knew a photo was being taken.

New Farm Park Picnic Part 2

Yours truly, contemplating how the other half live, while looking across the river, to where the other half live. Well, we're talking about halves here, but there are an infinite number of possibilities. For example, the homeless who live in New Farm Park may consider me, with a car and a mobile phone and a digital camera to be the other half...

Here Simone (background) and Sarah (foreground) are very patient as I try to recreate a scene from Ingmar Bergman's Persona. Mel and Rowan did this in another shot, which I shall show another time.

After refusing to have her photo taken, Simone eventually consented with this shot. I am not sure why this of all shots, but there you have it.

His confidence boosted after having the moves put on him at a party the previous night, Dave was feeling sexy and looking the same.

New Farm Park Picnic, Sunday November 20, 2005

Recently, a group of us went to Brisbane's New Farm Park for a picnic. I don't know why I am telling you this as those who are looking at this blog are likely to be those people. Anyway here are some photos. I will put more up later. In these first photos, a trip to the ice cream van was met with great excitement.

Mel and Rowan (i hope I spelled that right) decide on the sweet and unhealthy ice cream or the other sweet and unhealthy ice cream they will have.

In this day and age of postmodernity, privacy regulations and the washing machine, I asked the ice cream vendor, who looked like my Uncle Terry, if he minded me taking a photo of him serving my friends an ice cream. He muttered something that sounded like yes and then even posed for us. Sorry Mel, I couldn't fit you in the frame. Rowan said the complimentary paper serviette meant it was better service than back in the 1960s, but in general the same bad hygiene as ever.
